BIG BEN MAKES A BIG CHANGE

For as long as he can remember, Ben Huntsman has been overweight. In high school, he picked up the nickname 'Big Ben.' Throughout his early 20s, unhealthy eating habits and a lack of exercise continued to take its toll. At the age of 26, Ben weighed 383 pounds.
In October 2015, Ben saw photos of himself taken on a recent vacation with his wife. That was the last straw.
“I remember looking at those pictures and saying, ‘I don’t want to look like this anymore,’” Ben said.
He walked into his local Max Muscle Nutrition store in Placerville, California for protein, supplements, and a meal plan. He also joined a gym and started working out five days a week – one hour per day of weight lifting and 30 minutes of cardio. He started each workout with MLabs stimoVEX and took in extra protein throughout the day with MaxPro Elite.
“I followed my meal plan exactly how it was set up and was excited to see that I lost six pounds of body fat in the first week,” Ben said. “I was hooked. Over the next year, fitness became my passion and eating healthy became easier and easier.”
Motivated to turn everything around for good, Ben began adopting a mindset of positive living. “The more positive you are, the more you attract other positive things,” he said. “When I started this journey I was in a bad place. I had lost my job. That could have been a big thing. I could have let everything go south, but I turned it into a positive. Instead, I enrolled in the police academy.”
Over the years, Ben had tried many diets that never seemed to work. The custom meal plan from Max Muscle, combined with his can-do mindset, proved to be effective. Jon Meyer, franchise owner of the Placerville Max Muscle, described Ben as enthusiastic and said the meal plan gave Ben something much better than a diet. It gave him a new lifestyle.
“We made a basic, balanced meal plan based on Ben’s workouts,” Meyer said. “The change in him has been amazing. He was super shy and now he’s confident and happy and outgoing.”
After one year of sticking to his meal plan, supplements, and workouts, Ben shed 120 pounds with only 34 more to lose before he reaches his goal. Ben’s wife, Kristie, is impressed with her husband’s dedication and mindful approach to healthy living. The couple is expecting a baby at the beginning of 2017.
“People say they don’t have time, but you have to make time,” she said. “This is an important project – working on yourself. You have to always be conscious of your goals.”
Kristie said her husband has been supportive of her health as well, especially throughout her pregnancy. When she was craving pancakes, he searched the Internet for a protein-packed pancake recipe to satisfy her hankering and keep them both on track.
For Ben and his wife, healthy eating has become not only easy but also empowering.
“This has been a life-changing experience and a real eye opener,” he said. “If I would have known how easy the nutrition side of losing weight could be, I would have done it years ago.”
